This collection consists of business and personal correspondence, diaries, Inupiat stories, hand-drawn maps, brochures, publications, and a genealogical chart for Point Hope. The diaries describe Rainey's archaeological field work, and much of the materials reflect Rainey's work as an anthropologist.

Froelich Rainey was Director of the University of Pennyslvania Museum and Applied Center for Archaeology and was a professor of anthropology at the University of Alaska from 1933-1947.
